Entertainment is a big thing in our world, many different forms create the experience of being entertained. Some are very high in the art, some are very low brow, all of it is subjective. What is entertainment for one person may be considered work or even cruelty by another. The word “entertainment” comes from the Medieval Latin inter tenere, or to hold inside. The prefix inter means in, and the suffix tenere is from the Indo-European root ten, which meant to stretch or stretch. The fall 2011 issue of T E News focused on the subject of entertainment, the arts and the societal needs they fulfill.
